Its Christmas!!

Today mostly I'll be finishing of some unfinished projects, I have to make some crochet flowers for a surprise present  I'm making for someone, and I started to make some little tiny stockings that I'm gonna turn in to a Christmas card holder, I might also do a few more rounds on my twinlets blanket.

I'm feeling ever so christmasy today so the little stockings and hopefully some other festive shapes will come first on my list....... pattern comes from lemondedesucrette :)

One I made earlier......

Hot chocolate! :)

My little pixies eating sandwiches and mince pies!

Experimenting with different wool, I'm using some leftover bulky weight wool for this little stocking.

And finally......... :)

With my little stockings done, I promptly tied them on a doubled length of wool and hung them across my living room wall, for the Christmas cards to be hung on before its too late, I think next year I might expand on it by making some more Christmas shapes and making a stronger 'string' for the cards to sit on. but for this year it will suffice :)

Surprise surprise, who will this gift be for? A little sneak peak of a Christmas present I'm making this year, obviously I cant say who its for or what its going to be, but I will be sure to post this up soon after Christmas.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS :)

Mistakes & Progress.

Sometimes I get carried away with myself and make mistakes, Its just a lack of careful thinking, I reckon we all do it at times, this time it was me.......I decided to make my blanket a bit more interesting I would add small granny squares to the outside of the blanket followed by a border, I calculated I would need 24 squares in total of three rounds each.......they took forever!!!!!!

After I had made them i decided to join them to the original pattern by doing another round of the granny square pattern I originally started off doing.........still with me??

Well that was a bad idea I don't know why I thought it would work, but I thought I had to leave a space between the square's and well anyway it wasn't going to work...grrr :( i had to unravel the lot and think of something else!

PROGRESS :)

After watching Bethintx1's tutorial below I managed to join all my squares using a single crochet! I'm made up with my progress this week, now just to wait for some more wool to arrive to finish of the edges :)

The Makings Of A Granny Square Blanket :)

So I've set about making a traditional granny square blanket, its my first big project and will update this blog as I get closer to finishing it, hopefully it wont take too long!

Using only King Cole 'Big Value' Chunky Knitting Wool from eBay in 552 Petrol, 548 Moss and 553 red and a 6mm crochet hook. When I have finished I will post the final pattern.

The Very Beginning.......Well not quite!

A week later more like........ so I've recently turned to crochet, having bought myself some crochet hooks and some wool I've set about making a traditional granny square blanket for my twin boys due in march 2012, I'll put up some photo's soon! This blog hopefully will show my progress through learning the art of crochet, I will be posting my inspirations, linking to patterns and sites of interest, showing my favourite wool and yarn and of course my completed work and mistakes too!
